COLLIE NAMES
The Collie
A Collie holds its roots in early Scotland, and the name originates
from the Scottish word for coal, alluding to the color of the
Collie. The Collie is a tall, lean dog with a long haired
coat that is easily matted if the Collie spends too much time outside,
is allowed to run free, or is not properly groomed. For this
reason, owners of Collies must keep the coat clean and brushed at all
times. The coat is usually multi-colored and is most often a
distinct black, brown, tan and white separated into sections.
The underside of the Collie is mostly white, while the back and sides
are usually black, the legs have brown on the upper quadrants and the
face is a gorgeous light tan color. Fortunately, even
purebred Collies are known to suffer few health problems so in general,
the breed is considered a fairly healthy breed. The Collie is
known to be excellent with children and is very sociable and family
oriented. The Collie is exceptionally easy to train due to
its intelligence and its insatiable need to please the family and owner
it is so loyal to.
